What never counts
Everyday chat and quick answers, lists, notes, your calendar, reminders, timers and alarms, Today, Pages, and routines that only read and notify. These are unmetered for normal personal and household use.
Deep work
Counts: A request Daryl answers by stopping to think hard: a plan for the week, a letter, a decision with trade-offs, or anything you start with /deep.
Doesn’t count: Quick answers, lists, calendar, reminders, routines that only read and notify, a request that fails, and anything that runs on your own model key.
Errands
Counts: One task Daryl finishes on a website or on your Mac: a form filled, an order checked, a booking made.
Doesn’t count: An errand that fails, stops before doing anything, or hands back to you, and anything that runs on your own model key.
Allowances
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of deep work and errands, shown on the plan screen and in Settings › Billing. Allowances refresh on the 1st of each month, local time. Packs are used after the month's allowance. At 80% of an allowance, Daryl tells the person who pays for the plan. At 100%, that kind of task pauses and Daryl asks before doing more: you can wait for the next month, buy a pack, or change plans. On current plans, nothing is charged without you choosing it.
Packs
- 50 deep work
- 100 errands
Packs are one-time purchases, used after the month’s allowance, valid for 12 months, and never refilled on their own.
Your own model key
On a paid plan, work that runs on your household’s own AI provider key doesn’t count against your allowances. That provider bills you for it directly.
Heavy and automated use
Unmetered doesn’t mean unlimited for every purpose. Daryl is for personal and household use. To keep it fast and safe for everyone, we apply limits that normal use doesn’t reach, and Daryl slows or pauses activity that looks automated, abusive or harmful to the Service. If your use is far beyond a typical household’s, we will contact you before taking any lasting step. The rules on misuse are in the Acceptable use policy.
