This Cookie Policy explains how Optiarms Inc., doing business as D.A.R.Y.L. Labs (“Daryl Labs,” “we” or “us”) uses cookies and similar browser storage on getdaryl.com and the Daryl dashboard. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. “First-party” cookies are set by the site you are visiting; “third-party” cookies are set by someone else, usually for advertising or analytics across many sites. A cookie lasts either until you close your browser or until a set expiry. Browsers also offer other storage, such as local storage, that works in a similar way.
2. The cookies we set
These are all of the cookies getdaryl.com sets. All are first-party: they are set by getdaryl.com, sent only to getdaryl.com, and not readable by any other site.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cm_session | Keeps you signed in to the dashboard. | Strictly necessary | Up to 48 hours, or 12 hours without use |
cm_login | Ties a sign-in link to the browser that asked for it, so a link opened elsewhere can’t sign you in. | Strictly necessary | 10 minutes |
cm_mfa | Holds that you opened a sign-in link while you enter your second factor. | Strictly necessary | 5 minutes |
cm_stepup | Records that you just confirmed your second factor for a sensitive action. | Strictly necessary | 5 minutes |
cm_device | Recognizes a browser you have signed in on before, so a sign-in from a new browser is noted in your security log. It never skips any sign-in step. | Strictly necessary (security) | 90 days |
cm-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark look for the dashboard. | Preference | 1 year |
cm-dark | Lets the page draw in your chosen light or dark look before it finishes loading, so it doesn’t flash. | Preference | 1 year |
daryl_rail | Remembers whether you folded or opened the dashboard sidebar. | Preference | 1 year |
The sign-in cookies are set only when you sign in or start to. A visitor who reads our public pages without signing in receives no sign-in cookies, and receives a preference cookie only if they change a display setting. The sign-in cookies are marked so that scripts on the page cannot read them and they are sent only over encrypted connections. On getdaryl.com, the sign-in cookie names carry the browser security prefix __Host- (for example, __Host-cm_session), which locks the cookie to our exact host.
3. What we don’t use
- No analytics cookies. We do not run analytics scripts on the site, including “cookieless” analytics.
- No advertising cookies or pixels. We do not use advertising networks, retargeting, social media pixels or conversion tags.
- No third-party JavaScript. Every script on getdaryl.com is served by us from our own code. There are no embedded widgets, tag managers, chat bubbles or fonts loaded from other companies that could set their own cookies.
- No cross-site tracking and no fingerprinting of your browser.
If you use the free Check, we fetch the address you entered from our servers. That fetch happens on our side, not in your browser, and sets no cookies on your device.
4. Why there is no cookie banner
Privacy laws such as the EU and UK rules on electronic communications require consent before a site stores information on your device, with exceptions for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for and, in many interpretations, for remembering a choice you made. US state privacy laws require notice and an opt-out for cookies used to sell or share personal information or for targeted advertising.
Every cookie we set either makes sign-in work and keeps it secure, or remembers a display choice you made yourself. None is used for analytics, advertising, selling or sharing. So there is nothing to consent to or opt out of, and a banner would only get in your way. If we ever add a cookie that needs consent, we will ask for it first and update this policy before it is set.
5. Other browser storage
The dashboard may use your browser’s local storage for preferences only, such as how a list is sorted or a panel you closed. That information stays in your browser, is not sent to us automatically, and is not used to track you. Our Service may also ask your browser to create a passkey; the private key stays on your device or with your password manager, and we receive only the public key.
6. How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies, and clear local storage, in its settings, usually under privacy or site data. You can block cookies for getdaryl.com entirely, or delete them when you close the browser.
- If you block or delete the strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in, or you will be signed out.
- If you delete
cm_device, your next sign-in will be noted as a new browser in your security log. It does not change how you sign in. - If you block the preference cookies, the dashboard will use the default look and an open sidebar each time.
Signing out deletes the session cookie for that browser.
7. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Because no cookie we set is used for those purposes, the site works the same with GPC on. The same is true of Do Not Track: we do no cross-site tracking, so the site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends it. See section 13 of our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy, and its effective date, before we add or change a cookie. If we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary or a preference you set, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it. Questions about cookies go to hello@getdaryl.com or the address at the end of this document.
