If you already pay an AI model provider, you can give DARYL your own API key. The household's chats and routines then run on your key, usage on it doesn't count toward your plan's limits, and the key is stored encrypted.
How it works
- The household admin adds the key in Settings, under Household.
- The key is sealed with your household's encryption key. After it's saved, DARYL only shows its last four characters.
- Everyone in the household uses it for chats and routines.
If the key stops working
If the provider refuses the key, DARYL removes it, tells the admin, and keeps the basics running. Timers, alarms, reminders, lists and notes don't depend on the AI model. Outages and rate limits on the provider's side don't remove the key.
