Alexa+ is Amazon's AI assistant for Echo and other Alexa devices, Alexa.com and the Alexa app. Amazon says it can coordinate family calendars, plan meals, make reservations and shop, and it is included with Prime or $19.99 a month without Prime. DARYL is an AI assistant built for running a household: each person has an account, every task has a named owner, and reminders go to that person, with medication reminders that step up to a caregiver. DARYL is in private beta.

When each fits
Alexa+ fits a home already built around Echo devices and Prime, especially for shopping, music and smart-home control. DARYL fits a household that wants shared tasks with named owners, caregiver medication reminders and an assistant on Mac, Android, the car and a watch, and that wants it never to spend money.
